YOU SHOULD PARTICIPATE IN AN INTRODUCTORY EVENT FIRST

Every child is complex, but some are more complex than others.

In this program, you will be covering familiar theoretical ideas introduced in an innovative fashion.  The intention is to bring well established psychological ideas that are needed by parents and professionals of children with more complex needs, into a really useful framework called the Adult-Child Well-Being 'I Matter' Framework.

You will discover how a deeper understanding of stress states, child development, brain development and the adult role can help you understand better what is happening in your home or work setting.

You will also learn about the direction of travel and the steps you can take if you want to make a difference.

The Foundation A course is followed by a Foundation B course called Watching Affectionately.  The B course is a more interactive experience, in which you will have support in putting Theory into Practice in the context of everyday professional life. Those who have a personal interest will also be able to explore the professional as parent implications.

This course has been trialled in the Kendal area with professionals from a range of disciplines:  GP's, Teachers, Social Workers, Psychologists, Teaching Assistants.    Due to the quality of the feedback, we are now starting to make it available to professionals from further afield using webinar based study support sessions and a private forum.

Those who are in the Kendal area or are linked to a member school with a Lead Professional may be interested in attending face to face study support sessions.

Participation in group sessions is vital for any professional wanting to apply to the Link or Lead Professional role.

The online content is released gradually as there is a lot to digest.   We are on the look out for experienced professionals with   an interest in facilitating local study support sessions in their own localities

Start Date:  This course has an intake every half term.

Course Duration:  90mins x 8 weeks online

Study Support:   8 x 90min face to face or webinars

Some Feedback

GP: The course has been incredibly helpful and has made me re-examine my parenting and professional approaches.

Parent: I've learnt that it's our attitudes & behaviours that must change before anything else will improve.   It made me think about some of the actions that I do and how to change them

Parent: It is good knowing that I'm not alone, or a one-off case and that there is help out there!
Foster Carer: This course has taught me way more than I could have imagined, i love it!

Adopter: I have a much better understanding of why my child is behaving the way that they do and of my own reactions to that behaviour.

Pastoral Lead: I Matter training has reinforced how important I am.  At times I can lose sight of that.  The video clips were really useful so that lots of reading was not required.

Teacher: I found it clear and easy to follow. I have been much more aware of my own well-being.

Teaching Assistant: This course has been really amazing for me.  I have learned so much.  Thank you
